PSLE Math 2021 Paper 2 Question 11

Primary school maths tutor solving a PSLE Maths heuristic question involving ratios for a Primary 6 Maths question

a) Ans: 9:13
Boys in Group P -> 30/100 ×7u = 2.1u
Boys in Group Q -> 7u - 2.1u = 4.9u
Girls in Group P -> 60/100 ×4u = 2.4u
Girls in Group Q -> 4u - 2.4u = 1.6u

b) Ans: 330
No. of boys in Group P → fewer than 70
Multiples of 21 → 21, 42, 63 (largest possible multiple of 21 & less than 70)
21u → 63
1u → 63 ÷ 21 = 3
21u + 49u + 24u + 16u = 110u
110u → 3 × 110 = 330
